INDAM introduced hybrid seed production technology in Ranebennur way back in 1979 involving 14 farmers from 4 villages.
That year, it was extended to 22 villages involving 220 farmers. Now, more than 200 medium to big companies, more than 400 small companies and lakhs of farmers are benefitting from this technology.
We help farmers with technical support during crop production to ensure there’s better produce, which in turn benefits them greatly.
Our team regularly visits farmers across India and also conducts farmers meetings at regular intervals to understand their needs and challenges. We focus not just on farmers but also seed traders, agriculture labourers, Mandi merchants and retail sellers.
We measure the effectiveness of our outreach efforts by the quality, quantity, productivity and returns farmers get from the production activities. The success is also measured by the improvement in a farmer’s standard of living, whether they are able to educate their children and their overall social status.
We have tied up with public research institutes like IIHR and IARI to procure high yielding, disease tolerant hybrids in order to supply farmers. We have also tied up with many overseas companies for custom production of seeds for export which in turn helps our farmers to achieve a better price point.
In the near future, we plan to offer soil testing, provide soil health cards, mechanisation, and automation to reduce dependency on farm labourers. Digital farming, use of solar power, crop advisory and market linkage will help farmers get a better price for their produce.
