In April 2024, two of our esteemed production managers, Mr. Puneetkumar and Mr. Akhil Amarthaluru, embarked on a journey to Ismailia, Egypt.
Their mission: to impart expertise in tomato and hot pepper hybrid seed production to local farmers and agricultural laborers. This initiative was aimed at revolutionising seed production practices in Egypt.
The training sessions organised in Ismailia were not just about imparting technical skills; they were about fostering a deep understanding of hybrid seed production. Before our collaboration, the local partner focused solely on research and development. With our guidance and technical support, they expanded into large-scale seed production—a significant leap forward for Egypt's agricultural sector.
Throughout the training program, our team covered every aspect of hybrid seed production, from the meticulous care required during the vegetative stage to the intricacies of seed extraction, drying, and storage. We ensured that Egyptian farmers not only learned new techniques but also gained the confidence to implement these practices effectively.
At the heart of our resilience lies our dedication to rainwater harvesting. Since 2012, we have meticulously collected and stored rainwater.
The introduction of pond liners has significantly increased both the level and quality of our harvested rainwater, allowing for judicious use of this precious resource. This stored rainwater, along with recycled water, met our irrigation needs even during the most challenging times.
Egyptian agriculture faces unique challenges, including nutrient-poor desert soils, high pH levels, and low humidity. To address these issues, we introduced innovative solutions such as water-soluble fertilizer sprays to mitigate salt accumulation in the soil. We also emphasised the importance of training and pruning to optimise crop quality and resilience against pests and diseases.
Our efforts have had a profound impact on Egyptian agriculture, laying the foundation for sustainable growth and improved productivity. Despite potential competition in the seed production market, our collaboration with the local partner has opened doors for INDAM to explore new avenues, including poly-house farming and export opportunities for hybrid vegetables and melons.

As we reflect on our journey in Egypt, we are inspired by the resilience and determination of the local farmers. Moving forward, INDAM remains committed to supporting agricultural communities worldwide through knowledge exchange, innovation, and sustainable practices. Our partnership in Egypt serves as a model for future collaborations, demonstrating the power of international cooperation in transforming agricultural landscapes.
Our journey in Egypt has been one of empowerment, collaboration, and innovation. By sharing our expertise in hybrid seed production, we have not only enhanced local agricultural practices but also fostered a lasting partnership that promises a brighter future for Egyptian farmers. As we continue to expand our global footprint, we remain dedicated to creating sustainable agricultural solutions that benefit communities, economies, and the environment alike.
