Indo-American Hybrid Seeds (India) Pvt. Ltd., established by Padma Shri Dr. Manmohan Attavar, is a horticultural company that originated on November 4, 1965, with a primary aim of providing top-notch seeds to the American market. Over the course of 58 years, we have evolved to primarily cater to the Indian market, where our unwavering commitment to quality remains paramount. Our core activities revolve around the development and production of hybrid vegetable seeds, field crops, ornamental plants and flowering plants.

In 1973, we introduced the pioneering F1 hybrids of Capsicum Bharath and Tomato Karnataka, marking the first-ever hybrid vegetable seeds to enter the Indian market. Since then, IAHS has dedicated itself to meticulous research and development, resulting in an extensive array of products tailored to suit diverse agro-climatic conditions. As a result, we now confidently serve both the domestic and international markets.

01 Planning

Our Production Team initiates the seed production process by first identifying appropriate locations. Subsequently, they create a meticulously planned production strategy, considering market forecasts, production sites, and prevailing seasons, to ensure the highest quality seeds are produced.

02 Supply

The Quality Assurance Team conducts inspections on the plot at three critical stages—the vegetative stage, flowering stage, and pre-harvest. Throughout these visits, close monitoring of the crop occurs to assess its purity and uniformity. Any off types are rouged to guarantee that the seed quality meets international standards. Additionally, the production plots are graded as part of the quality assurance process.

03 Guidance

Throughout the crop's duration, designated local managers closely oversee the plots. They provide expert guidance on crop management and seed production techniques, starting from the sowing phase all the way to the crop's harvest.

04 Inspection

Our Quality Assurance Team visits the plot for inspection at three key stages; the vegetative stage, the flowering stage and pre-harvest. During these visits, the crop is closely observed for purity and uniformity, and rouging of any off types is carried out so as to ensure that seed quality is of international standards. The production plots are also graded.

05 Supervised Harvest

At the end of the crop cycle, the Production Team supervises harvesting. The seeds are then procured and sent to our Processing unit.

06 Processing

Incorporating cutting-edge machinery, our Processing Unit handles the seed lots with precision. The seeds are weighed, thoroughly cleaned, and treated based on their pre-assigned grades. Following this process, the Quality Control Team extracts samples from each lot, which are subsequently taken back to the laboratory for rigorous testing.

07 Seed Testing

In our Quality Lab, the seeds undergo testing to assess their genetic and physical purity, moisture level, and germination capability. All evaluations adhere to the stringent ISTA standards. Subsequently, only the seed lots that meet all the criteria are sent to the Packing Unit for further processing.

08 Packing

Equipped with advanced machinery, our Packing Unit efficiently handles packing, sticker application, and printing processes. Each seed packet is crafted from a specialized tri-material that safeguards and preserves seed quality, health, and moisture content.

09 Dispatch

Our seeds are then dispatched to farmers all over India and abroas. Our closely monitored production process guarantees the highest quality produce and ensures customer satisfaction.

Our highly focused R&D team develops products based on farmer requirements in different parts of the country. The team consists of highly dedicated breeders who constantly strive for the quality of our products in the field, in transit, as well as in the market. Most prominently, we work on vegetable crops like Tomato and Hot Pepper, and field crops like Rice, Maize and Sweet Corn. We concentrate on multiple disease resistances, abiotic and biotic stress tolerance and good quality produce.

Our Biotechnology Department predominantly works on marker assisted backcross breeding to introgress desirable genes into elite breeding lines. We also carry out DNA fingerprinting of high value hybrids seeds to detect inbreds, varietal trueness and for the identification of heterotic lines. With the latest technology and equipment, the Biotechnology Department supports our R&D wing, together fulfilling the IAHS promise of quality. The Biotechnology Laboratory of IAHS is recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology, and the Government of India.
